How often should a PAPR filter be changed?
When airflow drops or the alarm tells you, not on a calendar. A pleated P3 particulate filter loads up according to how much dust passes through it, so a week of heavy sanding will do more than a month of assembly work.
There is no honest universal interval, and anyone quoting one without asking what you cut is guessing.
A particulate filter does not wear out with time — it fills. As it loads, resistance rises and airflow falls. In a powered unit the blower has to work harder to push the same volume, which shortens battery runtime before it shows up as anything you can feel. That is the first practical sign: your charge is not lasting the way it did.

Two things that make filters last longer, neither of which involves buying anything: collect dust at the tool so less of it becomes airborne, and store the unit somewhere it is not sitting in the settling dust from the last job.
